As the end of summer approaches, this year’s season isn’t through with surprising locals just yet.
Country artist Todd Richard announced via Facebook Live that there will be a Bands on the Beach 2021 on Labour Day weekend, Saturday, Sept. 4 and Sunday, Sept. 5 at the waterfront stage off of Esplanade Avenue in Harrison Hot Springs.
“We will be here on this amazing, beautiful, lonely, lonely stage,” Richard told his Facebook audience in a short live video titled “Big Announcement.” “We will be here and celebrating some live music. It’s gonna be great.”
Richard indicated there would be COVID-19 safety precautions in place.
Richard and the TR Band will be headlining both days, but the rest of the lineup is, as of Friday, has not yet been announced.
Richard thanked Tourism Harrison Valley, specifically event coordinator Stephanie Gallamore and the Village of Harrison Hot Springs for their part in bringing it all together.
“Thank you so much for working with us to make this happen,” he added.
Last year’s big event was virtual as in-person gatherings across the province were shelved due to COVID-19; it fell on the Bands on the Beach’s 10th anniversary.
Richard organized the first event in 2010 in conjunction with Tourism Harrison Valley, seeking their support for an outdoor concert using the waterfront stage overlooking Harrison Lake. Some of the past acts that played Bands on the Beach include the Jon Bos Band, Combine the Victorious, The Gords and Cambree Lovesy.
