An annual thrifty fashion show will be all about embracing past styles while raising money for hospice programming in Chilliwack.
The theme for the seventh annual Thrifty Boutique Fashionista Fashion Show is 'Vintage Vibes,' and the fundraiser event is happening on Saturday, May 10 at Evergreen Hall.
"The Fashionista Fashion Show is more than just a runway event — it's a celebration of community, sustainability, and style. Every outfit, from clothing to shoes and accessories, is donated by our incredible thrifting community and carefully curated from Thrifty Boutique," said Desmond Devnich, marketing manager for the Chilliwack Hospice Society.
All proceeds support the society, a community-based organization that helps individuals and families dealing with death and dying through free, compassionate support, education, and programs that promote wellness and healthy grieving.
The unique fashion show will feature more than 50 one-of-a-kind outfits modelled by community volunteers.
The night will also include a curated pop-up boutique, silent auction, penny social, door prizes, complimentary glass of champagne, hors d’oeuvres, and a cash bar.
The Thrifty Boutique is the hospice society's number-one source of income, where 73 per cent of their revenue is generated. The shop is run by a handful of staff and 130 volunteers. All items that come into the Thrifty Boutique are donations. They rely on the community to not only donate the items, but to buy them as well.
"This event showcases how thrifted fashion can be both stylish and sustainable, all while raising funds for compassionate grief support and end-of-life care in Chilliwack."
People can pop into the Thrifty Boutique, located at #101-7955 Evans Rd., to buy tickets for $30.
The Thrifty Boutique Fashionista Fashion Show is Saturday, May 10 at 6 p.m. at Evergreen Hall (9291 Corbould St.). For more information, contact the Thrifty Boutique at 604-846-2226 or email thriftyboutique@chilliwackhospice.org.
