UPDATE: Crash leads to power outage for Mission, parts of Fraser Valley

Outage impacts Hatzic, Dewdney, Deroche, Kent and parts of Abbotsford and Chilliwack

A power outage is impacting over 4,000 customers in Mission, Kent, Chilliwack and Abbotsford on Tuesday (April 22).

UPDATE: Power has been restored for over 3,000 BC Hydro customers in the Mission area but an outage remains for 834, according to the BC Hydro website. 

ORIGINAL STORY

Over 4,000 BC Hydro customers in the Mission area are without power after a crash on Tuesday morning (April 22). 

According to the BC Hydro website, the outage is impacting eastern Mission, Deroche, Dewdney, Kent and portions of Chilliwack and Abbotsford. 

BC Hydro crews are on site as of 11 a.m. with power estimated to return by 4 p.m. 

Mission Public School District announced the closure of schools with no power and phones down — West Heights Elementary, Deroche, Dewdney, Mission Secondary School, Mission Central Elementary, and Fraserview.

Reports indicate the crash occurred on Lougheed Highway at approximately 10:35 a.m. and involved a single vehicle colliding with a power pole.
