A semi truck crashed into the ditch outside of the Mission RCMP building on Tuesday (Sept. 10).
Both police and BC Emergency Health Services attended the incident at the intersection of Lougheed Highway and Oliver Street at approximately 11:45 a.m.
According to a news release from the detachment, a semi-truck with a crane was driving westbound on Lougheed Highway when witnesses saw the vehicle drift across the eastbound lanes and crash into the ditch.
Police say the driver was slumped over in his seat and not breathing when first responders arrived. However, the man regained a pulse and was airlifted to hospital after CPR was performed.
"At this time, it appears that the collision was caused by a medical issue. The driver did not sustain any major injuries as a result of the collision, and fortunately no one else was injured either," Mission RCMP said.
The eastbound right-turn lane is closed on Lougheed Highway as Mission RCMP and the Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement unit investigate.
