Two men duking it out in the back of a truck will be one of the marquee matches for All Star Wrestling's first show in Abbotsford this year.
Abbotsford wrestlers Todd Quality and Big Rig tangle in what is being billed as a King of the Road match inside the Abbotsford Arts Centre on Saturday (Feb. 8).
It's believed to be the first time a King of the Road match has ever occurred in Abbotsford. The stipulation of the match is that it occurs in the back of a truck and there are no rules.
World Championship Wrestling had a King of the Road match in 1995 that featured Dustin Rhodes vs. Blacktop Bully that saw the pair fight in the back of a moving truck and to win the match a wrestler had to blow the horn. The match was widely panned by critics and fans.
The ASW version of the match is believed to be a stationary truck and is won by pinfall or submission. If Big Rig wins he will receive an ASW heavyweight title shot against Shawn Murphy later that night.
The ASW women's title will be on the line when champion Murphy Madsen puts the gold on the line in a triple threat match against Cherry Blossom and Zondra Lee.
Other announced matches for the Love is a Piledriver show include:
- Cruisweight champion The Gambler defends his title against Dave Rishi
- Tag team champions The West Coast Heavies take on Los Dawgs
- Team USA challenges The Enterprise in tag team action
- Battle Wasp competes against Chase Degenhardt
- Marty Royale battles Sad Boy Denzel
Doors open for the show at 6:45 p.m., with the show getting underway at 7:30 p.m. For more information, visit vtixonline.com/all-star-wrestling-presents-love-is-a-piledriver.
