Dear Editor:

Once again, Sasquatch Provincial Park is under attack. This time it is not led by a logging consortium but by the Kent-Harrison Joint Emergency Program. Forefront of their attack is the building of a road in and through the park.

They have been wanting this road for over 20 years. Our Official Community Plans reflect this development vision. It is enshrined in the Fraser Valley Regional District’s Growth Strategy and reflected in Report to Council A Year in Review 2021.

However, I do not believe they have shown there is a need for this road, and, if they do build it, it probably will not serve their purpose in a time of need. I have presented my case to the provincial government and “B.C. Parks has directed the District of Kent and the Village of Harrison Hot Springs to submit a Stage 1 application.”

I ask you to get ready to be part of the discussion. I would believe that we don’t want our children, our friends and neighbours asking “why didn’t you do anything?”
