Plans are still moving ahead for the reopening of Agassiz Produce.
Agassiz Produce store manager Marie Christie announced via social media that the grand reopening of the shop is slated for July 1. Christie said renovations had been delayed until this spring and are now moving forward.
“We look forward to seeing all your familiar faces and a few new ones to come and see the new renovations,” Christie wrote on Facebook. “Thank you all for the never-ending support, we truly live in a wonderful small town!”

Agassiz Produce has been closed since late November when the District of Kent posted a Stop Work/No Occupancy notice on the doors, which halted reno work and store operations until asbestos in the building could be removed.
In February, Christie announced the renovation efforts were at long last underway. Signs on the door of Agassiz Produce indicated the presence of reno crews. Christie told The Observer that the asbestos was removed from the premises. At the time, the store was tentatively scheduled to reopen in mid-March.
