Spring may seem far away, but the Harrison Festival Society is already preparing for their final seasonal concert coming up in May.

For their final show of the Season of Performing Arts, the Festival Society is looking for feedback from locals and the arts community throughout the Fraser Valley to put together a concert featuring one of six classic folk/rock albums from the 70s. The final concert is scheduled for May 20.

The object is to take music from the album of the people’s choice and arrange for a variety of artists to come and perform their interpretation of one or two songs from the featured album.

The artists to perform at the concert largely depend on the album chosen. The albums up for consideration are:

Fleetwood Mac: Rumours

Gordon Lightfoot: Sundown

Bob Dylan: Blood on the Tracks

Joni Mitchell: Blue

Neil Young: Harvest

Carole King: Tapestry

The survey is done through a Microsoft Form, linked on the Festival Society’s Facebook page. The survey asks participants to rank the six albums according to the one they would like to see covered most. Participants then have the option of providing their name and email address for a chance to win tickets to the show.

Season of Performing Arts has been running for 29 years – nearly as long as the iconic Harrison Festival of the Arts itself, which boasts more than 40 years of tradition. The Season of Performing Arts runs from September to May at Harrison’s Memorial Hall. The typical season features eight to 10 shows every year, featuring local, national and international performers.

Aside from the grand finale in May, there are two shows remaining this season – Rosier on Feb. 25 and Rocket Revellers on March 25.

Rosier is a Montreal-based quintet that has been producing indie pop for more than a decade. The band has toured internationally and features music in both English and French.

The Rocket Revellers fit right in with the musical flavours of Agassiz-Harrison, blending rockabilly, blues and western swing. The band formed in Vancouver in 2012 and features a number of faces that might be familiar to local concert-goers like Ray Condo and Veda Hille.
