March comes in like a lion and out like a – rockabilly concert?
The Harrison Festival Society is hosting the Rocket Revellers, a rockabilly swing sensation, for a concert on Saturday, March 25 at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Hall (290 Esplanade Avenue).
The Rocket Revellers is a six-man band based in Vancouver and established in 2012. Jimmy Roy (lap steel/guitar), Stephen Niklevas (guitar, producer), Mike Van Eyes (piano/vocals), Paul Townsend (drums), Joseph Lubinsky-Mast (bass) and Dennis Brock (vocals) blend rockabilly, western swing and jump blues to create a style all their own. Several of these members may be familiar to Harrison concert-goers, featuring musical talent who partnered with Ray Condo, Petunia and the Vipers and Veda Hille.

They frequently perform sold-out shows every week in Gastown at the Revel Room.
The Rocket Revellers’ mix of country and rock and roll fits in perfectly with the musical stylings Harrison fans love to listen – and dance – to.
The Rocket Revellers concert is part of Harrison Festival Society’s ongoing Season of Performing Arts, a performance series that runs from September to May every year. Next month will feature a performance from the Vancouver Improv Centre, scheduled for April 22 at Memorial Hall.
This year’s Harrison Festival of the Arts is scheduled for July 7 to 16; the artist lineup is due to be announced next month.
Tickets are available for $25 and can be purchased at harrisonfestival.com.
