The music hasn’t stopped in Harrison Hot Springs, as Tunes About Town continues.
Coming up this Saturday (Oct. 29) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., The Kyler Pierce Trio performs at Muddy Waters Café (328 Esplanade Avenue). The Kyler Pierce Trip consists of Kyler Pierce and his friends Dylan Weightman and James Stobbe. Pierce is a multi-instrumentalist and an active Fraser Valley arts community member. Weightman has played the drums on local and international stages. Chilliwack’s Stobbe plays the keyboard and saxophone with a passion for the blues.
On Nov. 13 and 29 at the Old Settler Pub (222 Cedar Avenue), Strong Bow and Wry are set to perform. Hailing from Mission, Jennie Bice and Tony O’Hara play a wide variety of music, including rock, roots, funk and blues.
Tunes About Town is funded through a grant from the Department of Canadian Heritage for “presenting artists within the area with the intent of supporting local business in COVID recovery period.” Businesses that have signed up for Tunes About Town include Muddy Waters Café, Canwest Art Gallery, The Old Settler Pub and The Ranger Station Art Gallery.
In other Harrison Festival Society news, April Verch and Cody Walters are booked for Saturday, Nov. 26 at Memorial Hall (290 Esplanade Avenue). Verch and Walters have played together since 2007, blending banjo, fiddle and the harmony of their own voices in the April Verch Band. They have played shows across four continents and 14 countries from small pubs to legendary stages. Walters and Verch were married in 2018.
In 2020, the April Verch Band trio had to switch to a duo format due to COVID-19 mandates, where they developed new material and arrangements.
Tickets are available now. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30 p.m.
