One boat was destroyed and another two were damaged in a fire at the Harrison Hot Springs Marina early Thursday (Feb. 6) morning.

According to the Sq'éwqel Development Corporation (SqDC) – the Seabird Island economic authority that just acquired the marina for more than $5 million – emergency crews spent several hours extinguishing the blaze. One boat was lost while two other sustained only minor damage in the fire. The dock remains intact.

There were no injuries reported, and marina operations remain open as of publication.

"We appreciate the support of our community as recovery efforts continue," the SqDC stated.
