Agassiz hits record-low temps as winter settles in

Frigid weather breaks an eight-year record

Ready or not, winter is here.

Agassiz-Harrison is no stranger to record temperatures in recent years . This time, though, Weather Canada reports record low temperatures in Agassiz on Friday, Dec. 2.

Weather Canada stated temperatures dropped to a chilly – 9.5 C, which handily beat the previous record of – 6.6 C set eight years prior on December 3, 2014 (- 6.6 C).

While Agassiz has on a few occasions been the hottest place in B.C. and in Canada, it’s a far cry from the coldest. On Dec. 2, the Fort Nelson Airport reported a crisp -35 C. Unsurprisingly, Eureka, Nunavut was the coldest spot in the country as of Friday afternoon, recording a bone-chilling – 46.9 C.
