Rising river and lake levels require extra care both on land and water.

Harrison officials ask visitors boating and recreating on Harrison Lake to use caution by keeping a few rules in mind, particularly while the lake is high. The main purpose of using extra care on the water is not only for safety but to prevent shoreline erosion, which in turn helps protect the village from flooding issues.

Avoid traveling without 500 metres of the shoreline. Vehicle speed should be reduced while on the lake and particularly in high-traffic areas to no more than 5 km/h to avoid creating unnecessary wakes. Those on the lake are also asked to make sure their vessels have all required safety equipment. Personal floating devices are required at all times.

The local RCMP will be conducting active water patrols to ensure compliance. In the event of an emergency on or off the water, call 911.
