Chadley Paul named new Sts'ailes chief

The March 20 election results are in for the Sts'ailes First Nation. 

Chadley Paul received more than 50 per cent of the vote, defeating four other candidates for chief, including ousted ex-chief Ralph Leon.

Paul handily defeated his opponents, receiving a total of 207 votes. former councillor Boyd Peters received 97 votes, Leon 47, Debra Felix 33 votes and Loretta Frances eight votes. Four hundred ballots were counted for chief and eight were ejected. 

There were 20 candidates for nine council seats. Incumbents Carla Charlie (124 votes), Cheryl Charlie (183 votes), Timothy Felix (177 votes), Tyra Point (200 votes) and Christy Wenman (136 votes) were re-elected. Newcomers Sherylnn Crispin (183 votes), Billi-Jo Amanda LaRock (123 votes), Marvin Leon III (185 votes) and Sherry Point (218 votes) were elected. Four hundred ballots were counted for council and 10 were rejected.

The following people were elected to the youth council: Jermey Charlie, Ryan Charlie Jr., Tori Charlie, Tobias Julian, Marvin Leon IV, Jerrell Leon, Michael Jr. Peters, Andrew Peters, Abigail Wenman and Elsa Williams.
