Fraser River levels have returned to normal, but the District of Kent continues to urge caution as debris may still be flowing

The District of Kent has urged residents and visitors to remain very cautious through all sections of the Fraser River.

While the River Forecast Centre has officially lifted the high streamflow advisory for areas downstream of Hope, district officials say debris is still travelling downstream due to fallout from the Chilcotin River landslide on July 31.

"Please remain cautious and avoid the river, as hazards related to unpredictable patterns of water level changes and increased debris loads persist," the district stated.

Locally, river levels peaked around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday (Aug. 6) at over 14 metres before subsiding to more typical levels. As of Friday morning, Fraser River levels near Agassiz are at about 13.2 metres.
