Former Harrison councillor Zoltan Kiss passed away on Saturday, Aug 3, his friends and family said via social media.
Kiss was voted on to council during the 2011 election, earning the highest number of votes behind Coun. Allan Jackson. He also ran for mayor in 2014 and council again in 2018.
Kiss sat on a variety of committees before and during his time on council, including the Advisory Planning Commission. He volunteered with Search and Rescue, filming rescue efforts for a Knowledge Network program before resigning from that position to run for office.
Acting Harrison mayor Leo Facio said Kiss's passing is "a sorry loss for the village."
"The village sends their deepest condolences to Leslie and their family," he told The Observer. "He was a very well-known resident in the village and always had time to speak to people. He was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather."
