As the weather has rapidly warmed, water restrictions have returned to Harrison Hot Springs

Village staff remind Harrison residents that water conservation is in effect beginning Thursday, June 1, through Sept. 30.

“Conserving water will ensure sufficient capacities for fire protection and household needs,” reads a handout from the village.

Lawns may be watered on Tuesday and Saturday between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. for addresses ending in even numbers. Odd-numbered addresses may water lawns during the same hours on Wednesdays and Sundays.

The village asks residents to limit non-essential water use, which according to officials is defined not only as watering lawns but watering gardens and washing boats and vehicles.

Village officials have offered tips in previous years to help residents conserve water as summer settles in.

  • Use a spring-loaded nozzle for watering to better control water flow and usage.
  • Invest in water-conserving shower heads, and aerators on bathroom taps, and consider installing toilets that are water-conserving certified.
  • Turn off the water while shaving, brushing teeth and washing dishes
  • Only run your dishwasher and washing machine when you have full loads
