A Kent Institution inmate was transported to hospital following a recent incident at the maximum-security federal institution.
On Feb. 5, an inmate was the victim of an assault and transported to outside hospital for treatment after being evaluated by staff members.
Correctional Service Canada (CSC) said the assailant was identified and “appropriate actions have been taken.” No other inmates or staff members were hurt during the incident.

“The safety and security of institutions, their staff, and the public remains the highest priority in the operations of the federal correctional system,” CSC stated. “In order to improve practices aimed at preventing this type of incident, the CSC will review the circumstances of the incident and take the appropriate measures.”
