MP Brad Vis said a company made an unauthorized robocall on Monday evening on behalf of Vis and his team.

A recent robocall that allegedly came from Mission-Matsqui-Fraser Canyon MP Brad Vis and his team was unauthorized, according to the MP.

Vis said a call was issued sometime Monday evening to some constituents in the riding. Vis did not publish details of the phone call on his social media.

A few hours after the initial post, Vis's team said the company who issued the call would issue a full apology and has taken responsibility for the error.

"Our team is meeting with them for a conference call shortly to discuss next steps," Vis wrote."Again, my sincere apologies for the disruption."

Just over a month ago, Vis presented a petition in the House of Commons calling upon the Canadian government to "implement a comprehensive Anti-Spam Strategy and stop the harassment of unsolicited and fraudulent phone calls and text messages to Canadian consumers."

Vis presented the same petition in December 2022. Most petitions are tabled in the house during routine proceedings, and the government's responses to the petitions become sessional papers, or records of parliamentary proceedings.
