Nomination packages for SD78 trustees available now

Interested in making a difference in your schools?

The Fraser Valley Regional District is conducting elections on behalf of Fraser-Cascade School District 78. There are three trustee spots available for Agassiz-Harrison.

Nomination packages are now available online at fvrd.ca/elections, the FVRD office in Chilliwack (45950 Cheam Avenue no. 1) 830 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and at the Hope and Area Recreation Centre(1005 Sixth Avenue) 8:30 a.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Nomination packages must be completed and turned in to the Chief Elections Officer during regular office hours between 9 a.m. Aug. 30 and 4 p.m. on Sept. 9. Packages can be delivered to the FVRD office in Chilliwack, mailed, emailed or faxed, but all packages must be addressed to the Chief Elections Officer.

The remaining trustees to be elected to the board will come from the Hope area (three trustees) and the Fraser Canyon area (one trustee.)

To run for office, you must be nominated by two qualified people and meet the following requirements:

Be a Canadian citizen

Be 18 years or older on Oct. 15

Be a resident of B.C. for at least six months before the day the nomination documents are filed

Not be disqualified under the School Act or any other regulations that would otherwise prevent you from running for or holding office.
