Police incident near Harrison Mills shut down highway

Multiple departments involved in Monday incident

The Lougheed Highway west of Harrison Mills was shut down early Monday morning after a report of "distress" in the area. 

According to Agassiz RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Andy Lot, Agassiz RCMP responded to the call at 8:40 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 30, in the area of Scowlitz Road and Highway 7. The highway was temporarily closed. 

"Combined efforts of Agassiz RCMP, Mission RCMP, Chilliwack RCMP, Indigenous Policing Services, and Emergency Response Team lead to the safe apprehension of the male," Lot told The Observer.
