After what seemed like forever, the dry spell came to an end in Agassiz-Harrison.

According to Weather Canada, Friday saw 9.1 millimetres of rainfall, nearly matching rainfall for the entire month of August in a single day. 34.5 millimetres fell on Monday (Oct. 24), which was considerably higher than the 18.7 millimetres that was predicted. Just under 10 millimetres of rain fell on Tuesday (Oct. 25).

The late summer and fall seasons have been extremely dry in Agassiz-Harrison, with only 27. 5 millimetres of rain in July, 10.5 millimetres in August and no recorded rain in September. From April to September, there has been a total of 330.8 millmetres of rain in the area – just over half of what fell in November 2021, the month of the atmospheric river disaster.

As of press time, a total of 54.2 millimetres of rain has fallen since the beginning of October with roughly 98 per cent of that precipitation falling in the past week.

The showers aren’t expected to entirely let up for the foreseeable future as periods of rain are expected going into the weekend.
