It’s time to tee up for a local cause.
The Harrison Resort Golf Course will host a golf tournament on April 1 at 10 a.m. in support of the Lets’emot Regional Aquatic Centre (LRAC). Registration for individuals and teams of four as well as sponsorship opportunities close on March 1. Space is limited, so anyone interested is asked to register as soon as possible.
Registration fees are $100 per person. Those interested in registering or sponsoring the tournament should contact Bob Penner at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Fundraising for the construction of the LRAC is gaining momentum as grassroots efforts continue. In addition to donations from locals, the provincial government has provided $9.5 million toward the construction of the new facility, which will sit adjacent to the Community Recreation and Cultural Centre on Pioneer Avenue. Mission-Matsqui-Fraser Canyon MP Brad Vis recently made more efforts to suppor the LRAC, penning a petition to the federal government for additional funding.
The total cost of the facility’s construction is estimated to be roughly $20 million.
