An area hockey association is planning a double feature for the month of February.

Hope Minor Hockey is prepping for an U7 tournament from Feb. 10 to 22. This will be followed by a U6 jamboree on Feb. 26, both at the Hope Recreation Centre (1005 6 Avenue). Hope Minor Hockey welcomes players from Agassiz, Boston Bar, Harrison Hot Springs Sts’ailes and – of course – Hope.

A tournament and a jamboree are two different events. Tournaments, of course, consist of a schedule of games among several teams all leading up to an eventual winner. A jamboree, however, involves a gathering of several players who are placed on one-off teams. Games in jamborees can be competitive but the focus is more on fun and the love of the game.

Hope Minor Hockey is in serious need of volunteers and players; the tournaments cannot run without the assistance of volunteers.

Hope Minor Hockey hosts six different leagues, from U6 to U18. To learn more about volunteer opportunities, registration and for more information about minor hockey in the area, contact president Lora Post at president@hopeminorhockey.ca or visit hopeminorhockey.ca.
