Local racer Kiwi Bishop had some strong showings at one of the biggest vintage races in Western Canada.

Bishop and about 100 of his fellow drivers recently competed in the British Columbia Historic Motor Races (BCHMR), which returned to Mission on Aug. 6 and 7. He competed in the Vintage CW class in his 1980 Chevrolet Camaro, no. 63.

After four races and two-top 10 placements, Bishop ultimately came in 6th, missing the top five by just over half a second. His overall time was 24:25.880, about a minute and six seconds behind first-place Doug Yip. Bishop’s best speed at the end of four races was 95.959 mph.
