MUNICIPAL ELECTION 2022: Kent Council race called, all incumbents re-elected

The District of Kent Council remains the same going into the new term as all incumbents have been re-elected.

The election has been called for incumbents Susan Spaeti, Kerstin Schwichtenberg, Duane Post and Stan Watchorn. Newcomer Verna Dandedault has lost by a margin of 129 votes.

“I’m very thankful to our residents for their confidence in our council,” Spaeti told The Observer. “I am excited to continue working on upcoming projects, especially the new Aquatic Centre!”

Watchorn expressed similar excitement.

“I am delighted to be back working with the others on council,” he said. “I believe we have worked effectively together and will continue to do so.”

The unofficial results as of 9 p.m. on Election Night are as follows:

Susan Spaeti: 472

Kerstin Schwichtenberg: 469

Duane Post: 419

Stan Watchorn: 413

Verna Dandenault: 284
