A Chilliwack man is facing charges for theft and break and enters in Agassiz.

According to the RCMP, the 19-year-old Westin Ferguson was arrested by Agassiz RCMP on Feb. 7, following an investigation into a number of break and enters throughout the community.

The investigation, which stemmed from a spate of break and enters from November to January, looked at reported break and enters, as well as theft from and of vehicles in Agassiz. Local officers, supported by the Lower Mainland Integrated Forensic Identification Section, linked a suspect to a number of the thefts.

Ferguson is facing charges for three counts of break and enter, two counts of attempting to steal a vehicle, two counts of failing to comply with the conditions of a court order, as well as attempting to break and enter, theft of a motor vehicle and possession of a prohibited firearm.

Ferguson appeared via video in Chilliwack court Tuesday (Feb. 19) and his case was put over to a scheduled bail hearing on Feb. 25.

Sergeant Darren Rennie said the Agassiz RCMP will continue their investigation into the thefts.

“Following a thorough investigation police will be submitting all circumstances of the investigation in a report to the BC Prosecution Service for their assessment of additional criminal charges,” he said in the police report.
