A lakeside neighbourhood in Hope has been transformed by this week’s rainstorm.
A resident sent in photos of the mess made from severe debris flowing from Johnson Road Creek into Kawkawa Lake. The roads are covered in heavy rock and debris, and someone has cleared a driveable pathway through the middle of the roads. Rock fills driveways, and the creek is roaring into the lake.
The resident also said they believe the Kawkawa Road sewer pump is not working, which has caused sewage to flow into the lake.
The Standard has not been able to contact the District of Hope, due to phone line issues in Hope.
