Body pulled from Fraser River

Few details released as Chilliwack RCMP try to identify body pulled from the Fraser River Monday.

Chilliwack RCMP are working to identify a body pulled from the Fraser River Monday.

"Positive identification has not been confirmed," RCMP Cpl. Tammy Hollingsworth told The Progress late Monday. "We may not have answers for a while."

It is too early in the investigation to provide further details, she said.

The body, reportedly a male, was found where the Harrison River meets the Fraser.

Kent Search and Rescue was called in to help police recover the body, which was caked in sand suggesting it had been in place for some time.

Police are checking missing person reports for matching descriptions.
