UPDATE: Collision between bike and truck on Pioneer Ave

One man was taken away by ambulance following an accident on the corner of Pioneer Avenue and Highway 9 on Friday.

Sgt. Darren Rennie of the Agassiz RCMP said the bike ran into the truck at low speed.

Eyewitnesses said the incident happened very quickly.

“We really didn’t actually see the impact. We just heard the noise and ran out and he was on the ground,” said Jean Robson.

Emergency responders were on the scene shortly after Pioneer Trading Post owner Tracey Davies called 911.

“There was no damage to the bike, and the cyclist may have suffered minor injuries,” Rennie said.

An earlier version of this story stated that the incident happened on Tuesday, Sept. 26 when the incident occured on Friday, Sept. 29.
