COVID-19 cases in Agassiz-Harrison continue to fall

After spike to start off 2022, reported cases settle down

A second week of significant declines in COVID-19 cases in Agassiz-Harrison could mean the worst of the local wave is over.

The B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) reported 13 new cases of COVID-19 in Agassiz-Harrison between Jan. 23 and 29. This is down by 23 new cases from the previous week. There have been 153 recorded cases of COVID-19 in Agassiz-Harrison so far in 2022.

COVID-19 infections have trended downward since the beginning of the year.

There are no reported outbreaks in Agassiz-Harrison schools at this time. Outside of the ongoing Kent Institution outbreak, there are no public outbreaks or exposure events in the local health area.

As of Jan. 31, here is the latest Agassiz-Harrison vaccination rates (rates in bold have increased):

Ages 5-11: 36 per cent partially vaccinated

Ages 12 +: 83 per cent fully vaccinated (87 per cent partially vaccinated)

Ages 12 to 17: 66 per cent fully vaccinated (72 per cent partially vaccinated)

Ages 18+: 84 per cent fully vaccinated (88 per cent partially vaccinated)

Ages 18 to 49: 76 per cent fully vaccinated (82 per cent partially vaccinated)

Ages 50+ : 89 per cent fully vaccinated (91 per cent partially vaccinated)

Ages 70+ with booster: 79 per cent
