The COVID-19 outbreak at Glenwood Seniors Community is now over.
In a press release today (Feb. 10), Fraser Health declared the long-term care facility in Agassiz was no longer facing an outbreak of COVID-19. On Jan. 26, the health authority notified the public that two staff members had tested positive for the virus at the care home, and were self-isolating at home.
On Feb. 4, in the province’s weekly report on outbreaks in long term care, there were still only those two cases connected with the outbreak. In the Feb. 10 release, Fraser Health said there are no longer any COVID-19 cases at Glenwood Seniors Living.
The outbreak at Glenwood Seniors Community was the third outbreak in Agassiz’s long-term care homes. The first two were at Agassiz Seniors Community in October and December of 2020.
Residents of the local care homes were able to receive their first shots of the COVID-19 vaccine in mid-January.
Fraser Health is encouraging people to use its COVID-19 assessment tool and get tested as soon as they experience any symptoms associated with COVID-19.
