Crash victim identified

Chilliwack RCMP have identified one victim of a single-vehicle accident, while calling off the search for another.

Chilliwack RCMP have identified a women killed in a single-vehicle accident on March 10.

Forty-year-old Teena Louise Carreck, a Chilliwack native, was in a Ford F150 truck that crashed through a concrete barrier at the intersection of McDonald Road and Ballam Road, taking down a power pole before plunging into then Fraser river.

Police believed a man, also from Chilliwack, was with Carreck in the truck. RCMP Air Services, Chilliwack Search and Rescue, the Lower Mainland District Police Dog Service (IPDS), RCMP Marine Services out of Nanaimo, and the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team have spent the last two weeks looking for him.

On Tuesday morning, the search was called off.

This is not the outcome anyone was hoping for,” said Cst. Tracy Wolbeck. “However, all possible avenues have been exhausted in this search. We will continue to monitor the river at this point and provide support to the man’s family until he is located.”

Why the truck ended up in the river in is still unknown, and the investigation continues.
