After two years, Earthwise Agassiz’s Outdoor School program is back.

Beginning the week of April 13, the Outdoor School program will once again feature hands-on learning opportunities on Earthwise Agassiz’s 58-acre property with its diverse ecosystems and trails as well as an organic farm. It has been on hold for the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The three-hour immersive programs are best for intermediate or high school students, but field trips can also be arranged for younger students aged five to 10. Teachers can choose from eight nature-based topics, which tentatively include the basics of an ecosystem, pollinators, soil and bugs and much more.

“Students who learn outdoors develop a strong sense of independence, confidence, empathy and inquisitive thinking,” stated Earthwise spokesperson Emily Hadary. “In addition, getting young people connected to nature helps to establish a life-long sense of environmental responsibility.”
