Fraser Health has reported another COVID-19 exposure at Kent Elementary.

According to Fraser Health, someone with COVID-19 attended school on Oct. 21 and Oct. 25 through 28.

An exposure does not necessarily mean COVID-19 has spread; if there is evidence of spread from one person to another, that is what classifies as an outbreak. While there are two active exposure events within the school district as of publication, there are no outbreaks at this time.

If there is any action that needs to be taken by students or staff, including self-monitoring and self-isolation, Fraser Health officials will reach out to them directly.

Fraser Health’s recommendations from last year are unchanged – those who are able to and do not have COVID-19 symptoms should continue to attend school.

Last year, COVID-19 exposure rates for SD78 were very low with six or seven exposures throughout the school year. Now, within the first two months, there have been seven exposure events – six of which occurred in Agassiz schools.
