Harrison Hot Springs residents have another chance to make their home more energy efficient.
BC Hydro and It’s On Electric Company have partnered to once again provide Harrison homes with a free assessment to help decrease energy consumption and reduce the load on the area’s overtaxed substation.

The project first started back in February 0f 2020, when BC Hydro, It’s On Electric and FortisBC teamed up to provide 100 homes with free energy assessments and energy-saving items like smart thermostats. However, the COVID-19 pandemic that hit the province soon afterwards put the project on hold.
Now, It’s On Electric and BC Hydro have revived the idea and are hoping that more Harrison residents will come on board.
The Direct Install program is funded by BC Hyrdo, and will allow residents in single family homes in Harrison Hot Springs to receive a home assessment identifying ways they can reduce their energy consumption.
The program will also bring in a licensed electrician who can install lighting controls like dimmers or timers. The electrician will also be able to retrofit fluorescent tube lights to LED, as well as install in smart thermostats and hot water tank controls.
Participants can trade in old incandescent Christmas lights and have them exchanged for LED white or multi-coloured lights. The program will also be removing secondary freezers and fridges on request.
All participants will receive a clothes drying rack to help reduce energy consumption on laundry day, as well as a $25 gift card to a local restaurant.
