Lougheed Highway is now open in both directions at Mount Woodside, after being closed for nearly an hour this morning (Jan. 11).

Downed power lines between Highlands Boulevard and Bodnar Road had closed the highway just before 8 a.m.

According to Agassiz Fire Chief Gerald Basten, a tree came down because of bad weather in the area and took down the energized power lines. A car driving on the highway hit the branch, and received minor damage. There were no injuries, and the road was closed until BC Hydro was able to remove the power lines.

No outages were reported as a result of the downed lines.
