It was at approximately 7:45 p.m., when Chilliwack RCMP took a man suspected of assault into custody from Chilliwack General Hospital (CGH).

The unidentified man was cleared medically by the hospital, and he was released to officers and transported to detachment cells.

The next morning, Feb. 13 at approximately 7:30 am, a guard reported the man in medical distress, according to the IIO.

Emergency Health Services was called and the man was taken back to CGH.

He has since been released.

The IIO is the independent civilian oversight agency of police in B.C. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
