An inmate was hospitalized after they were assaulted at Kent Institution.
According to the Correctional Service of Canada, the inmate was assaulted on June 15. Staff members evaluated the injuries and the inmate was transported to an outside hospital to be treated. The inmate has since returned.
CSC officers identified the assailant and action has been taken. The Agassiz RCMP are investigating the incident with the CSC.
“The safety and security of institutions, their staff and the public remains the highest priority in the operations of the federal correctional system,” CSC spokesperson Kim MacPherson stated.
