Man to face judge after routine traffic stop

Firearm found in vehicle during random Agassiz road check

What started as a routine traffic stop resulted in a man being arrested and charged in Agassiz last Monday.

Agassiz RCMP were conducting random road checks, primarily looking for distracted drivers and seatbelt infractions.

More than 16 tickets were issued, however, police also found a prohibited weapon in one vehicle. The man involved was arrested and will appear in court at a later date.

Sgt. Falebrinza from the Agassiz Detachment would like to remind the motoring public that they are not allowed to hold their cell phone while driving unless they are using a handsfree bluetooth device. He said more checks will be done in the near future.
