A Mission company has won an award from the Canadian Home Builders Association (CHBA) of BC.

Lacey Construction received a CHBA Georgie Award for “best single-family detached home up to 2,300 square feet under $500,000 – production” for Kermode Cabin at Sandpiper Resort in Harrison Mills.

This is the third win for the Kermode Cabin, and the company’s first Georgie Award.

“We are so excited to have won essentially the hat trick of Canadian housing awards, taking home Fraser Valley, national and now provincial award wins for the Kermode Cabin,” said president Erik Lacey.

He said the company, which is celebrating its 21st year in business, is proud to have built this project from the ground up, including interior design by Tanya Soon and project management by Steven Page.

Lacey said this project was close to his heart, as he worked closely with the Pretty family when Sandpiper Resort was originally built.

“Thank you so much to the numerous local companies who made this win possible. We are at the heart of it, families building for families, and we take that ethic into every project we do,” he said.

The Kermode Cabin is nestled along the 14th hole of Sandpiper Resort. It features locally sourced materials, including western red cedar logs from Haida Gwaii, top to bottom Woodtone tongue-and-groove wall and ceiling coverings, and custom-colour-matched pine trim/baseboards.

The Georgie Awards celebrate excellence in home-building and renovation in British Columbia.

To be eligible for an award, CHBA BC members submitted entries that were built, renovated, developed, created and/or marketed during the period of Jan. 1, 2018 to Sept. 30, 2019. The finalists and winners were selected by a panel of out-of-province industry professionals.

The 28th Annual Georgie Awards gala was held on June 26 for the first time ever via a virtual format hosted by Todd Talbot, co-host of Love It or List It Vancouver.
