Armed robbers in stolen Jeep hit Mission, Seabird gas bars

The RCMP have two suspects in custody following Monday night’s incident

RCMP arrested two suspects following an alleged robbery spree in Mission and Seabird Island, that saw the suspects use guns and a stolen car to flee police.

Just before 9:30 p.m. on Monday (June 10), Mission RCMP responded to a report of two men brandishing firearms while driving away from a general store in Lake Errock, located on the 43000-block of Lougheed Highway.

Officers linked the suspects to a red Jeep reported stolen from Lake Errock earlier that day.

Half an hour later, Agassiz RCMP received a report of a robbery at the Sqéwqel Gas Bar on Chowat Road off Highway 7, with witnesses saying the suspects had allegedly fired rounds into the air.

Agassiz officers, along with members from the Chilliwack RCMP and the Integrated Police Dog Service, arrived at the scene, where they found the stolen vehicle abandoned near the Agassiz-Highway 7 overpass.

Police dog Gibson was sent out to track the suspects. Gibson found the first suspect hiding in a swampy area, and the second hiding in a nearby garden shed.

Two Chilliwack men in their early 20s were arrested, and remain in custody. Guns and evidence linked to the robberies were seized by police during the arrest.
