RCMP Stuff the Cruiser event ‘resounding’ success

Cash donations double in fourth annual event held in Chilliwack and three other communities in the Upper Fraser.

The RCMP’s Stuff the Cruiser event in the Upper Fraser Valley is being called a “resounding” success – especially in cash donations to food banks.

“The food items collected were the same as last year’s totals,” RCMP Const. Tracy Wolbeck said. “However, the cash donations this year were almost double.”

RCMP cruisers were parked outside participating businesses in four communities in the Upper Fraser Valley Dec. 15 and the public invited to make cash or food donations to local food banks or the Salvation Army.

In Chilliwack, $2,989.20 in cash was donated and 7,500 food items collected.

In Agassiz, $533 in cash was donated and two truckloads of food delivered.

In Hope, $619 in cash was donated and 1,400 lbs. of food collected.

In Boston Bar, $904 in cash was donated and 1,125 lbs. of food collected.

All the cash and food donations went to the Salvation Army or food bank in each community.

The RCMP would like to thank all the participating businesses involved in the fourth annual event, and a special thanks to the public for their support and generosity.

“So much hard work goes into this event to make it a success every year,” Wolbeck said.

“Officers use their own time to organize and attend the event, and the public is always so supportive of our efforts,” she said.
