As the 2020 graduates get ready to take on life after secondary school, local leaders offered their words of wisdom and well wishes.
Seabird Island Chief Jim Harris issued his own congratulatory message to the class of 2020 on behalf of himself and the Seabird Island council on Tuesday (June 9).
“I want to thank all the teachers in our public and private schools in our area for all of your dedication in keeping up with the teaching of our children,” he said in the video address.

Chief Harris acknowledged the difficulties the graduating class – and really all of B.C. and beyond – faces ahead, especially given the fallout of the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
“Some things are slowly starting to open,” he said. “Here at Seabird, our hands go up to elementary and high school staff for coming out to make up and send out homework packages to our students.”

Beyond the teachers, Chief Harris thanked administrative staff, school cooks, bus drivers and staff.
“Remember to stay safe out there, and thank you, from all of Seabird’s council,” he concluded.
