Take a healthy approach to Canada Day

Free swim, volleyball games and farmers market in Agassiz and Harrison

One of the highlights of Canada Day in both Agassiz and Harrison Hot Springs is the cutting of this country's birthday cake.

But there is so much more to celebrate throughout the day, and many activities planned focus on healthy living and recreation.

In Harrison, Canada Day is the perfect opportunity to try out the new beach volleyball nets. They are located on the north side of the lagoon, and anyone is invited to come out and give them a try at 11 a.m.

Also on the beachfront, there will be tons of fun games for children organized from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

In Agassiz, healthy living is at your fingertips thanks to the Agassiz Farm Fresh Market. You'll find healthy, handmade baked treats, organic produce, local meat products and more. While the market is normally held on Thursdays, vendors will be set up on Canada Day this week, as well.

You can get physical while trying out the Wipe Out competition, kids can take their turn in the bouncy castle, and to wind up the day, your whole family can head down to the Ferny Coombe Pool for a free swim (1 p.m. to 4 p.m.)
