UPDATE: Body discovered in Deroche

Mission RCMP investigating death of a man found in a vehicle along the road

A body was discovered in the Deroche area on the afternoon of Monday, May 6.

Mission RCMP said a complaint was received at approximately 2:30 p.m. that day, regarding a black Acura SUV parked in the area of North Deroche Road and North Nicomen Road, not far from Deroche Elementary.

Mission officers, including investigators from the general investigation section, attended the scene and located a deceased man in the vehicle.

“The investigation is in its infancy, and at this point it does not appear foul play is involved, nor are there any related concerns for the public’s safety,” said Mission RCMP Staff Sgt. Steve Crawford.

He added that the Mission RCMP investigation is continuing in conjunction with the BC Coroners Office to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the cause of death.
