A video of Burnaby Mounties being shouted at and sworn at on Halloween night has received nearly 40,000 views and hundreds of comments since being posted online on Nov. 1.
The video shows a group of men shouting and swearing at Burnaby police officers as they came across 10 men setting off fireworks near Imperial Street and McPherson Avenue.
In the footage, police are shown asking if the fireworks have stopped.
Police told Black Press Media that when officers asked for a permit, the men were “verbally abusive.”
In Burnaby, it is legal to set off fireworks on private property on Halloween but the city does have excessive noise and disturbance bylaws.

“It’s unfortunate that these individuals felt they could engage with police officers in this manner and I am proud of each and every responding Burnaby member,” said Supt. Chuck McDonald, officer-in-charge of the Burnaby detachment.
“They were calm and professional in ensuring the issue was resolved safely and did not escalate.”
