A chicken barn in rural Chilliwack has caught fire Friday.

The barn is at Castleman Road near Standeven Road, and there are flames coming through the roof. As of 1 p.m., the fire was not under control, and the roof was collapsing in many areas. Some chickens have been saved from the fire, with several hundred of them running around in the grass.

The long barn is mostly on fire, with one end so far unaffected.

Chilliwack fire crews were just finishing up at a house fire on Rowat Avenue when the call came in.

More to come.
