A winter storm warning remains in effect for the eastern Fraser Vally, with the threat of more snow and freezing rain Friday evening.

The storm warning was lifted from Abbotsford-west at around 3 p.m., but Environment Canada says an additional five centimetres of snow, mixed with freezing rain, could fall overnight in the Chilliwack area, before turning to rain Saturday morning.

“Icy conditions will continue for the next couple of hours north and east of Chilliwack and should abate in the East Fraser Valley near Hope overnight,” the weather service said in a statement.

Temperatures will rise steadily on Saturday, climbing to nine degrees by Sunday.

The warming weather brings the threat of localized flooding and residents are being reminded to keep their catch basins clear near their homes.
