He was born in Altona Manitoba and is survived by his loving wife Dolores and children Graham (Avril) Funk, Valdena (Gerald) Zacharias, Scott (Cheryl) Funk with grandson Douglas (Devon) Zacharias and great-grandchildren Kesler, Nate and Olivia. Also survived by his sisters Evelyn Schmidt and Diane (Elmer) Braun and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents Peter and Gertrude Funk and brother Ronald Funk.
He met a gal, Dolores, at the Dairy Del in Altona Manitoba, fell in love and married 8 months later in March 1961. He retired in 1996 with the Department of Highways.
In their 62 years of marriage they have enjoyed travels to many countries, snowbirding down South and RVing across Canada and the USA where they have made many life long friendships. He was loved by all who met him. He loved to dance, play the spoons, sing and was always a jokester.
He will be remembered for his "Gpa" beard-rubbed kisses with his great-grandchildren, his endless love for his family whom he always put first, his willingness to always be there when someone needed help, his infectious laugh and smile. We will miss him everyday.
Special thanks to Dr. Joneson and the 4th floor nurses.
